TEDNA's Hurricane Katrina Donation -- On Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, the TEDNA Board unanimously approved a $300.00 donation to the National Congress of American Indians' Hurricane Relief Fund to help TEDs, students, and communities of Tribes affected by Hurricane Katrina.  TEDNA President Jerome Jainga stated, "We know that several tribes in Louisiana and Mississippi have TEDs.  We checked with other national Indian organizations and quickly decided to join them in assisting the affected tribal communities."

Board Extends FY '05 Memberships -- On Thursday, September 29, 2005, the TEDNA Board unanimously approved a resolution extending all FY '05 Regular Memberships by thirty (30) days until October 31, 2005.  This action is intended to address voter eligibility at the upcoming Annual Membership Meeting, October 5, 2005 in Denver, Colorado.

According to the TEDNA Bylaws, only Regular Members in good standing are eligible to vote at the Membership Meeting.  In Fiscal Year 2005, which under the Bylaws ends on September 30, 2005, there were fourteen (14) Regular Members.  Because the Membership Meeting is scheduled for right after the start of Fiscal Year 2006, the Board recognized that not all Regular Members will have sufficient time to renew their memberships.  In order to allow the FY '05 Regular Members an opportunity to vote at the very first Annual Membership meeting on October 5th, the Board felt that it was in the best interests of the organization to extend the '05 memberships by thirty days.  In addition, new Regular Members who are joining for the first time in FY '06 will be able to vote at the October 5th meeting as well.
