MTV – Rebel Music: Native Noise Thursday, November 13 at 4 PM EST

Here, from Rebel Music.  This is a piece that MTV is doing on Native music and life.  An excerpt from the first chapter, War Paint:

“How many people even know a Native (American)?” he asked. “Unfortunately, in the grand scheme of things, we’re not in their minds.”

In 2012 the clothing chain GAP put out a shirt imprinted with the words “MANIFEST DESTINY” – the name of the 19th-century U.S. ideology that justified the murder of Native Americans. In response, Judd released his own shirt design. It showed the same two words against a photo of the victims of the 1890 Wounded Knee Massacre on the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota.
