Chickasaw students can apply for the Chickasaw Nation Recruitment and Retention program, which endeavors to “prepare, support and empower Chickasaw college students for success.”
The program has resource offices on-campus at five colleges in Oklahoma: University of Oklahoma (OU), University of Central Oklahoma (UCO), Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC), East Central University (ECU), and Murray State College (MSC).
Students in the program receive opportunities to participate in “social, cultural, academic and career development events” on a monthly basis. The program supports students throughout their entire time in college.
Students can also apply to be an Apela participant. Apela students provide peer mentorship to fellow Chickasaw students. Mentors in this program are compensated for their work.
